Find Your Why
When the time comes and I’m no longer physically on earth, how will the short time I’ve spent here mattered? Will my life have had any meaning? Seems like a loaded question, but I think of it often. What difference can I make while I’m here?
My husband and I have two beautiful children, and of course, we try to raise them to be decent humans - to think of others, be a friend to everyone, and be kind. As scary as it seems some days, our children are learning by watching us. I’m the first to admit we’re not perfect, but hopeful that these life lessons stick with them like chewed gum in the hair.
Like most of you, I come across many people throughout my day outside of my family. I believe everyone deserves a smile, hug, or handshake and that at any moment anyone I come in contact with could very well be in need of one of these things. I enjoy encouraging others and not just in the gym to push it for one more rep, but also in life to pursue their goals. It’s never too late to try something new or improve in an area in your life. You can do it!
To answer my question at the beginning, I think my life will have mattered as long I can make others feel they matter. My Why is to lift up those I encounter on a daily basis so they have positive self-worth and create a ripple effect of encouragement wherever they go. To also share a smile, hug, or handshake.
I’ve carried this card in my wallet for many years. It’s a simple reminder of who I am, Why I’m here, and encourages me. Here’s to you finding your Why.
